Fulbright: U.S. Student and Faculty Program

U.S. Student Fulbright/Budapest Semesters in Mathematics-Rényi Institute 

Award Profile:

The grantee will reside for one academic year (two semesters) at Budapest Semesters in Mathematics (BSM) and will be expected to study 8 courses and take part in the activities of BSM. In case the student is advanced enough to join a research group of the Rényi Alfréd Institute of Mathematics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Rényi Institute and BSM will appoint an appropriate research advisor from among the joint faculty of the Rényi Institute and BSM, and will provide the student with proper research services at the Rényi Institute.

U.S. Faculty Scholar Fulbright/Budapest Semesters in Mathematics-Rényi Institute 

Award Profile:

The scholar will be expected to take part in research activities and to contribute to student understanding of the nature and role of research mathematics and the processes by which one trains to become a research mathematician. The scholar will take part in different kinds of activities of the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics.

The Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences will co-host the scholar for the academic activity/research, and will provide research services and a vivid scientific environment.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Scholar Program’s primary purpose is as a public diplomacy initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and is designed to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of the rest of the world. To support this mission, grantees will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host country community, in addition to their primary research or teaching activities.
